Getting started

This guide gives you a quick introduction to how we structure documents and how to start building them with basic components.

How We Think About Documents

Our system uses a modular approach to document creation. Read a detailed overview of the architecture in the Understanding Document Structure. Documents are built from simple Elements, grouped into Blocks, and structured using Regions and Templates.

Elements

Elements are the smallest building blocks, used to render text, images, tables, and other visual content.

Blocks

Blocks group elements and other blocks into reusable layout structures for modular document design.

Regions

Regions are fixed-position areas within a template, used to place content at exact locations on the page.

Templates

Templates define the overall structure and flow of a document by combining elements, blocks, and regions.
